MADERA RANCHOS, CALIFORNIA (May 24, 2017) – 19 year-old Dalton Hill competed in three Micro Sprints races in the month of May as he returned to his short track roots while awaiting a return to 360 competition in the near future. Hill showed flashes of speed but also suffered some bad luck across races at Lemoore Raceway and Delta Speedway in the 600cc Non Wing division. Hill drives the #20 PMP Chassis for car owner Greg Gillespie.

The month began on May 6th at Delta Speedway where Hill was greeted by a remarkable 38 car field on the 1/7th mile oval. Hill missed quick time by just .060 seconds and ended up third. After finishing third in his heat race, Hill was lined up sixth for the 30 lap feature. The opening lap proved to be troublesome as Hill was tagged and spun in turn two. A car even went over the top of Hill and flipped. He recovered from the rear of the field and went to work. After nabbing a few positions, Hill was slowed again when he got collected by another car which ended his evening early.

Hill and the rest of the Micro world headed south on May 13th for King of California action at Lemoore Raceway. After running eighth fastest out of the 23 cars competing, Hill hit a curveball with track conditions in time trials to rank 15th. A third place finish in his heat race after starting fifth set the stage for a strong run in the feature. Hill started 11th and rolled the top groove and was able to advance to fifth at the finish for a satisfying top-five finish.

His busy month concluded on Saturday night at Delta Speedway against 29 Non Wing entries. Qualifying eighth quickest gave Hill the outside front row for his heat race. He took advantage of his starting position by winning the heat race. Lining up sixth for the main event, Hill’s tight condition from earlier in the night changed to a loose condition on very tricky track conditions. A large “Tulare-like” curb greeted competitors in turns three and four. A wild feature unfolded with Hill running in seventh before a flat right front tire ended his night early.

The 2017 season for Hill continues June 27-July 1 with the prestigious 3rd Annual California Speedweek. 130 cars from nearly a dozen different states will duel in four races in five days. Hill is still looking for his first career Speedweek main event win and would like nothing more than to capture a carved Golden Bear trophy!
